This week's Torah portion begins with the account of G-d's revelation to the Patriarch Avraham in Eilonei Mamrei.

Historically identified with the city of Chevron, this was the site where Avraham fulfilled the Divine command to circumcise himself. Since it was his friend Mamrei who encouraged Avraham to do so, this site is called by his name and was honored with the visit of the three angels delivering their Heavenly message.
