Rabbi Avraham HaKohen Kook was the first Ashkenazic Chief Rabbi in Eretz Yisrael, years before the establishment of the State of Israel. His memory is honored by a settlement near Hadera name Kefar Haroeh. The Hebrew letters making up this name correspond to R(abbi) Avraham H(aKohen), which are the initials of this great Torah scholar, and also form the Hebrew word roeh (visionary), a tribute to Rabbi Kook's vision of a Jewish State which has inspired the National Religious Movement.

Kefar Haroeh is also the home of the first Bnei Akiva yeshiva and a favorite site for summer camps of religious institutions.
